Karl Peterson
I grew up in a small town in Western Michigan, and while I may be in Pennsylvania now, I am a true Michigander at heart (GO BLUE!). I love spending time reading comic books and watching Star Trek. My favorite superhero is Superman, and my favorite Captain is Picard, and there is no debate. I love to read science fiction and fantasy series to relax and dive into a game on the Xbox whenever possible, which is rare with a young kid at home.
After ten years in full-time ministry, I needed to make a change. I spent time figuring it out independently, and coming up empty-handed, I decided to hire a coach. We worked together and landed on checking into coaching for myself, and I fell in love. I joined a master’s program and got started.
Before all that…
Growing Up
Growing up in a single-parent household with a mom who has special needs involved a lot. I started work at a young age and worked hard to ensure my life wasn’t chaotic. As a 14-year-old kid, I was feeling hopeless and lost. I figured my life was about as good as it would get. That was when my grandma sent me to Lake Ann Camp, and I was introduced to Jesus. From then on, my life changed. I joined a church, and God blessed me with my youth pastor, Jamey. Jamey was a leader and one of those people you instantly understand and connect with. Our friendship started then and goes on today, over twenty years later. Jamey gave me my first opportunity to tell others about Jesus and how my life has a purpose. During my first year, I decided to go into full-time student ministry. I went to Clarks Summit University and straight into a church.
While at school, I met Elisabeth. I was hooked the first time I saw her curly hair and smile. She, on the other hand, would take some convincing. We started dating in 2006 and got married in 2010. She brings me so much joy, and I couldn’t have imagined life without her.
Struggles…
My journey began at a small rural church in Northern Michigan, a wonderful place with amazing people. After four years, I felt God calling me to something new. Despite initial reluctance, it became clear, and we relocated to Scranton, where I served as the family pastor at a large multi-site church, overseeing ministries from newborns to high schoolers.
During my time in full-time ministry, I pushed myself to be someone I wasn’t meant to be, chasing goals that didn’t truly matter. My family paid the price as I placed them on the back burner. This all came to a head in 2019 when I lost my job after ten years in ministry.
The past few years have been a period of learning, healing, and strengthening for us. Our path hasn’t been what we envisioned, but it’s been exactly what we needed. I’m excited to work with you to help you achieve your goals and dreams.
